Types of Training

The MEPA offers further training opportunities in the following formats for police officers and law enforcement personnel performing border control duties in the participating countries:

  1. Criminal Investigation Course (German)
    · Duration: 7 weeks + 8 weeks of preparatory training for Hungarian participants
    · Target group: primarily professionals dealing with organized crime and economic protection

  2. Special Course (formerly Integrated Border Security Course) (German)
    · Duration: 4 weeks + 3 weeks of preparatory training
    · Target group: professionals from police forces performing border control tasks

  3. Course on Combating Organized Crime (English)
    · Duration: 4 weeks + 3 weeks of preparatory training
    · Target group: police officers active in the field of combating organized crime

  4. International Professional Seminars in Hungary and other member states
    · Duration: 3–5 days
    · Target group: law enforcement professionals relevant to the seminar topic

  5. Professional Placement Abroad
    · Duration: 1 week
    · Location: a foreign duty station relevant to the specific field of expertise

  6. Language Placement in German-speaking countries
    · Duration: up to 2 weeks

  7. Language Courses:

Exam Preparation Course
· Duration: 500–550 hours
· Start dates: every February and September
· Level: intermediate and advanced

Specialized Language Refresher Course
· Duration: 4 weeks
· Level: intermediate and advanced

The national offices of the Central European Police Academy operating in the member countries – in Hungary, this is the Hungarian National Office of CEPOL, functioning as a department within the International Training Centre – implement the annual further training programs based on the needs of the member countries’ law enforcement agencies. These programs are prepared and coordinated by the CEPOL Board of Trustees and approved by the CEPOL Presidency.
